About AzilRose (Liza Torres)

I was raised in Brooklyn, New York, where thorny roses climbed the fence of my small backyard, offering their sweet fragrance and vibrant color. Hi, I’m Liza Torres. When I first set a conscious intention to find inner peace, it began with an honest look in the mirror. I came to understand that I couldn’t control the actions of others or many aspects of my environment—so I turned inward.

Acknowledging my flaws and embracing my strengths became the first step in transforming my life. Through a long, humbling journey of spiritual growth, challenges, and family revelations, my inner resilience took root and began to bloom. That inner shift sparked lasting change—not just within myself, but in those around me.

Liza in the mirror is spelled Azil, hence AzilRoseYoga_and_Pilates. Ironically, my journey into fitness began not with movement, but with stillness—through meditation and breath awareness. After a heart-wrenching shift in my family, I found myself with no clear path forward, so I simply sat and breathed. On some days, I could meditate for hours, and in that quiet space, I found solace from my grief. Months later, though I felt emotionally lighter, I realized I had gained a significant amount of weight. That realization drew me outside, where I began moving again. Seven years ago, I ran my first half-marathon, and since then, cardio has remained an essential part of maintaining my cardiovascular health.

After injuring my knee while running, I wasn’t sure what direction to take next—until I found yoga. What began as a way to stay active became a profound journey of self-discovery. Each session offered more than just movement; it became a practice in balance, presence, and release. I quickly learned that holding a pose wasn’t just about physical strength—it demanded mental flexibility and courage. Through breath awareness, I learned to quiet the noise of everyday life and reconnect with myself. My passion led me to dive deeper into the study of Chakra Health, Sound Healing, and Pranayama (breath work), eventually guiding me to teach yoga in studios and gyms across New Jersey and New York.

My fascination with dysfunctional muscular movement patterns led me to become a certified Corrective Exercise Specialist, enabling me to design personalized programs that target and correct imbalances in the body. Not long after, Pilates caught my attention. As I moved through sequences of mindful, core-focused exercises on both the mat and reformer, I noticed a remarkable shift—persistent hip discomfort I’d dealt with for years began to ease. That experience was a turning point. I realized just how vital core strength is to overall health and stability. From that moment on, I was committed not only to integrating Pilates into my own routine but also to sharing this powerful method of intentional movement with others.

Teaching Yoga and Pilates, hosting breath work, Sound Healing, and Chakra Health workshops, privately and group based, has allowed me to share my gifts of healing through intentional physical and energetic movement. My goal is to help you find your highest potential (Inner-Guru) using mindful body-awareness to build vigor, strength, flexibility, and a sense of living in the moment, through different forms of movement and stillness.
