About AzilRose (Liza Torres)
I was raised in Brooklyn, New York where thorny roses crawled up my small backyard fence and shared their sweet fragrance and vibrant color. My name is Liza Torres and when I set my first conscious intention to find inner peace, I started with a hard look in the mirror (my name spells Azil when reflected) and realized the person looking at me was the only person I had the power to change. Admitting and accepting my flaws and strengths was the first step to a changed lifestyle towards health, peace, and strength. That change in me created a rippling effect into the lives of others. Hence, the name AzilRose.
Ironically, my journey into fitness began through meditation, (blogging) and breath awareness, because I didn’t know what else to do after a heart wrenching, life changing family shift. Some months later, and after much weight gained, my body began movement outdoors on the pavement. I ran my first half-marathon seven years ago, and have kept cardio as part of my cardiovascular health.
While running, I hurt my knee. Unsure of what to do next, I began Yoga. Yoga changed my life! Each session became a space for self-discovery. Finding balance and ‘letting go’ in each pose took more than physical strength; it required a flexible mind and courage. Focusing on my breath kept me present, helping me to calm the chaos of everyday life. Numerous Yoga training led me deeper into the study of Chakra Health, Sound Healing and Pranayama (BreathWork), ultimately leading me to teach yoga in yoga studios and gyms throughout New Jersey and New York.
Becoming intrigued with dysfunctional muscular movement patterns in the body, I became certified as a Corrective Exercise Specialist to design specific individual programs to correct dysfunctional movement. Shortly after, Pilates peaked my interest. Moving through a series of mindful movements focused solely on using my core on the mat and reformer, helped heal a nagging hip discomfort I’d been struggling with. Once I connected the dots of how important core strength was to my health, I knew I had to incorporate the practice into my own routine and teach others a new method of intentional movement.
Teaching Yoga and Pilates, hosting breath work, Sound Healing, and Chakra Health workshops, privately and group based, has allowed me to share my gifts of healing through intentional physical and energetic movement. My goal is to help you find your highest potential (Inner-Guru) using mindful body-awareness to build vigor, strength, flexibility, and a sense of living in the moment, through different forms of movement and stillness.

“Today, just take time to smell the roses, enjoy those little things about your life, your family, spouse, friends, job. Forget about the thorns -the pains and problems they cause you – and enjoy life”
